Find a Central Theme

You may find the following topic suggestions helpful in the early stages of collecting ideas or themes upon which to build your essay:

• Your personal goals and your career aspirations.
• Your work experience (past and present).
• Your responsibilities in the work place and the reliable way in which you fulfill those responsibilities.
• Your professional or academic achievements and successes (include awards or special recognitions).
• Important or life-changing events in your history that you feel played a significant role in your personal or professional development.
• Life challenges that you were able to overcome.
• People from your past or in your present life who somehow inspired or motivated you.
• Activities in both your private and professional life that reflect your strengths, tenacity, reliability, or skills.
• The traits or attitudes you possess that you believe will ensure your success in the graduate program you have selected.
